Do you require your existing RMC certified members to take an ICD-10 proficiency exam to retain their credentials?
Because MMI already requires an annual update exam to renew the RMC Certification, we are not requiring members to take a separate ICD-10 proficiency exam. The annual update exam (beginning on October 1st) will incorporate the ICD-10-CM code set.
When does my membership/certification expire?
Your renewal date is the day that you passed the initial certification exam (RMC, RMM, RMA or RMB). It is available on your membership card, which is mailed to you each year.

Will I receive notifications that my membership and certification is about to expire?
A renewal reminder will be sent to you 90, 60 and 30 days before your renewal date each year via email & mail.
I passed my renewal date for my RMC, RMM, RMA and/or RMB certification. What do I do?
You will need to purchase a 30, 60, or 90 day extension. This will give you 30, 60, or 90 days past your renewal date to complete the entire renewal process. If you pass your renewal date by more than 90 days, you will need to re-take the initial certification exam. You can click here to be redirected to the extension options.
What materials do I need to take the update exam?
The current year's medical coding books (CPT®, ICD-10, HCPCS II) as well as MMI’s monthly newsletter, the Medical Business Journal.
How many attempts do I have to take the RMC update exam?
You will have 2 attempts at the online update exam and 24 hours for each one.
Can you tell me what questions I got wrong on my exam?
To protect the integrity of the online exams, we are not at liberty to disclose the questions and/or answers. However, we are able to provide the areas in which questions were answered incorrectly and the amount missed per section. Click here to request an exam review.
Exception: An exam review is not available when purchasing the certification exam (without the online training).
When do I get the results of my update exam?
Your score is immediately available upon submitting the exam, where you need at least a 70% to pass.
How do I access the monthly newsletter, the Medical Business Journal (MBJ)?
The Medical Business Journals (MBJ) are MMI's e-newsletter, available to you on the learning site after clicking on the "My Courses" tab. If you are interested in contributing to the MBJ, click here.

I forgot my username and password to the learning site. What do I do?
Go to the learning site (mmiclasses.learnernation.com) and click on the "forgot password" button. You can then enter in your email address to receive an email with a link that will allow you to reset your password.
Note: If you don’t receive the email, be sure to check your spam/junk folder.
I’m entering in the correct username and password but it isn’t letting me log in.
Make sure you are using a current browser. The learning site requires you to use the most updated version of Internet Explorer, Googlechrome, or Firefox.

How do I submit the CEU’s to maintain my certification?
You can email the documents/certificates directly to email@example.com as an attachment or fax them to 678-669-2483 Attention: Renewal Department. You can submit these documents throughout the year, but be sure to do so before your renewal date.
Note: If you purchased CEU courses directly through MMI, they will automatically be applied towards your upcoming certification renewal.
How many CEUs do I need to submit each year to keep my credentials current and up-to-date?
12 CEUs are required annually for one credential and 6 additional CEUs are required for each additional credential you hold.
Example: If you hold the RMC credential, you must submit 12 CEUs. If you add on the RMM credential, you will need to add on an additional 6 CEUs for a total of 18 CEUs to submit each year.
I was in the middle of taking my exam and Internet went out. Are my answers lost?
No, the learning site automatically saves your answers throughout the exam. You are able to log back into the learning site and resume the exam where you left off.
Note: The exam will automatically submit after the set time limit.
I’ve passed my update exam, submitted the required CEUs and paid the annual membership fee! When will I receive my new card and seal?
You will receive a “Congratulations” email upon passing your exam containing the estimated shipping date for your membership card and seal. Generally, these renewal documents are mailed out every two weeks.
Note: This is when you will update and/or confirm your shipping address.
